Agricultural supplier and retailer Wynnstay has donated more than £1,000 to breast cancer charities after getting behind an international awareness campaign.

Wynnstay was one of the suppliers of special pink bale wrap that popped up across the UK countryside this year as a way of raising awareness of breast cancer in the agricultural sector.

For every roll of the wrap, made by Cambridgeshire based Volac, Wynnstay made a donation, which was matched by the manufacturer.

Wynnstay also raised funds at each of its retail stores and matched the total donated in the collection tins.

Staff organised fundraising events for last month’s ‘Wear it Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness’ day and raised money through raffles and cake sales.

Wynnstay handed over a cheque to Breakthrough Breast Cancer and the Breast Cancer Campaign charities at the Llanfachraeth store in Anglesey, which made a significant contribution to the campaign through sales of the bale wrap and by promoting awareness of the campaign in the area.

Angela Kemp, from the store, said: “The pink wrap campaign was fantastic and we are still seeing pink bales in the area! It is a great way to increase the awareness of breast cancer and we cannot wait to sell it again next year.”

Wynnstay Chief Executive Officer Ken Greetham, added: “I would like to thank all customers and staff who donated and contributed towards breast cancer awareness.

“It was a very successful campaign that became a big hit on social media with customers uploading their pink bale photos. It really demonstrated the united strength of the agricultural industry.”
