Our Arable Division supplies a wide range of products to arable and grassland farmers throughout our trading area, covering all areas of crop production including seed, fertiliser, agrochemicals and grain marketing. We are looking to recruit experienced and highly motivated individuals to join our Arable Teams at our York and Shropshire offices.

Arable Technical Manager - Hybrid Field-based/Office-based

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Fertiliser Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading and promoting Wynnstay’s technical soil health offering in collaboration with other key sales teams.
  • Engaging in training events to further develop the sales team’s knowledge of soil health and advising on solutions through nutrient management plans and cropping.
  • Providing technical knowledge and support to customers and supporting Wynnstay colleagues in the field.
  • Understanding relevant legislation.
  • Driving growth in arable related products including fertilisers, seeds and agronomy.
  • Leading the delivery of Nutrient Management Plans to the Wynnstay customer.

The Person

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience in interpreting soil characteristics and crop nutrition requirements through soil sample results
  • Be FACTs and BASIS qualified
  • Be able to build good business relationships with professional farmers
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be self-motivated and able to work autonomously
  • Be able to demonstrate proficiency in using IT systems
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours
  • Possess a full clean UK driving license

Technical Manager - Hybrid Field-based/Office-based (North West/North East England) - Glasson Grain Ltd

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Fertiliser Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing strategies to introduce new products and concepts that improve the technical offering of the business, and to promote sustainable nutrient use efficient to merchants and farmers
  • Leading and supporting the commercial team in introducing and marketing innovative ideas to our customers
  • Advising on all aspects of crop nutrition, raw materials, product development and formulation
  • Keeping abreast with market trends and movements, and advising on new technical developments in the fertiliser and agronomy industry
  • Becoming proficient in all current legislation and regulations relating to fertiliser and nutrition products and applications
  • Being involved in the quality monitoring of products, such as analysis and nutritional efficiency
  • Assisting with both internal and external training, to improve and update the knowledge and nutritional expertise of our sales team
  • Being involved in supporting all aspects of marketing and brand awareness, including customer contact, industry events and media content

The Person

The successful candidate:

  • Experience in fertiliser, combinable crop seed/ forage seed, and ag chemicals (preferable but not essential)
  • Able to build good business relationships with professional farmers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Able to demonstrate strong accuracy skills and proficiency in using IT systems
  • Full clean UK driving license

Trading Manager - Hybrid Field-based/Office-based (North West England) - Glasson Grain Ltd

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Trading Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining and establishing positive working relationships with new and existing Cereal growers and customers in the North West of England, and across our trading area
  • Trading with growers and meeting profitability objectives
  • Accurately managing contract purchases and sales
  • Assisting with managing sales of Corn Mill products to new and potential customers
  • Assisting with increasing volumes of trading products across our trading area

The Person

The successful candidate:

  • Experience in trading and sales management (preferable)
  • Experience in combinable crop seed/ forage seed (preferable)
  • Able to build good business relationships with professional farmers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative

Forage Sales Specialist - North Wales & Borders

Location: North Wales & Borders

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing specialist support and advice to ruminant livestock farmer customers on all aspects of forage, fertiliser planning, variety selection, and grain procurement within the designated region
  • Selling forage products including fertiliser, seed (cereal, forage, maize, cover crops etc.), silage additive, agrochemicals and grain
  • Increasing and promoting our Nutrient Management Planning offering in North Wales & Borders
  • Promoting service offerings available including soil sampling and testing, and advice for farm compliance purposes 
  • Providing technical support to the wider sales team on forage products when required to reach budget figures
  • Developing and generating business for Wynnstay in collaboration with other key sales personnel 
  • Marketing and promoting Wynnstay to increase brand awareness
  • Participating in marketing and product management campaigns
  • Producing weekly activity and sales reports
  • Participating in various training and development activities as required
