Our Arable Division supplies a wide range of products to arable and grassland farmers throughout our trading area, covering all areas of crop production including seed, fertiliser, agrochemicals and grain marketing. We are looking to recruit experienced and highly motivated individuals to join our Arable Teams at our York and Shropshire offices.

Technical Manager - Hybrid Field-based/Office-based (North West/North East England) - Glasson Grain Ltd

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Fertiliser Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing strategies to introduce new products and concepts that improve the technical offering of the business, and to promote sustainable nutrient use efficient to merchants and farmers
  • Leading and supporting the commercial team in introducing and marketing innovative ideas to our customers
  • Advising on all aspects of crop nutrition, raw materials, product development and formulation
  • Keeping abreast with market trends and movements, and advising on new technical developments in the fertiliser and agronomy industry
  • Becoming proficient in all current legislation and regulations relating to fertiliser and nutrition products and applications
  • Being involved in the quality monitoring of products, such as analysis and nutritional efficiency
  • Assisting with both internal and external training, to improve and update the knowledge and nutritional expertise of our sales team
  • Being involved in supporting all aspects of marketing and brand awareness, including customer contact, industry events and media content

The Person

The successful candidate:

  • Experience in fertiliser, combinable crop seed/ forage seed, and ag chemicals (preferable but not essential)
  • Able to build good business relationships with professional farmers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Able to demonstrate strong accuracy skills and proficiency in using IT systems
  • Full clean UK driving license

Forage Seed Manager East - Northeast & Eastern Counties / Elvington Office (YO41 4EA)

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Seed Manager East the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working with the Head of Seed and Seed Manager East to develop a business plan
  • Working with the Grass and Environmental Product Managers to build and develop the portfolio of products to be promoted and sold in the Eastern Region
  • Forecasting, planning production and managing Forage Seed stock on-site
  • Acting as the main Eastern contact for specialist advice for farmers and the Sales team
  • Providing technical support for Wynnstay Sales Specialists on grass, environmental and conservation seed
  • Collaborating with and upskilling the Eastern Sales team, assisting with retail business and dual calling where required
  • Relaunching the existing Yorkshire Green brand across the Eastern Region
  • Producing key marketing materials including the Yorkshire Green Catalogue
  • Working with Seed Managers and the Marketing department to boost brand recognition
  • Keeping up to date with changes in environmental policy and communicating with other departments

The Person

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience in combinable crop seed/forage
  • Be BASIS and FACTS qualified (preferable)
  • Possess sales skills and experience
  • Be able to build good business relationships with professional farmers
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be self-motivated and able to use own initiative
  • Be able to demonstrate strong accuracy levels and proficiency in using IT systems
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours
  • Possess a full clean UK driving license

  • Maintaining and establishing positive working relationships with new and existing Cereal growers and customers in the North West of England, and across our trading area
  • Trading with growers and meeting profitability objectives
  • Accurately managing contract purchases and sales
  • Assisting with managing sales of Corn Mill products to new and potential customers
  • Assisting with increasing volumes of trading products across our trading area

The Person

The successful candidate:

  • Experience in trading and sales management (preferable)
  • Experience in combinable crop seed/ forage seed (preferable)
  • Able to build good business relationships with professional farmers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Able to demonstrate strong accuracy skills and proficiency in using IT systems
