Wynnstay is delighted to announce that Jessica Williams of Dolaugwyn Farm, Bryncrug, Tywyn near Dolgellau, has been named the winner of the 2025 NFU Cymru / Wynnstay Sustainable Agriculture Award.
The award, presented at the NFU Cymru Conference on Thursday 6th November, recognises individuals who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to the economic, environmental, social, and cultural wellbeing of Wales. Jessica was awarded a prize of £500 and a beautifully engraved Welsh slate barometer in recognition of her exceptional contribution to sustainable farming.
This week, Wynnstay House opened its doors for a special Heritage Evening, welcoming members of the local community and key stakeholders to celebrate the site’s rich history. The event was designed to foster meaningful connections, with guests including representatives from Powys County Council, the Young Farmers Federation, and the Women’s Institute. Their attendance reflected the collaborative spirit that has shaped Wynnstay’s journey for over 100 years.
Members of the Eco Council at Llansantffraid Primary School visited the newly developed Wynnstay House in Llansantffraid-Ym-Mechain.
The group consists of children of various ages who collectively work on local outdoor projects, it empowers young people to lead environmental improvements in their schools and beyond, developing crucial skills and a sense of global responsibility.
The pupils were invited to plant native species at the front of the offices, supplied by the Derwen Garden Centre. The addition of this planted area will help encourage pollinators as well as creating a welcoming view for visitors and Wynnstay colleagues.
Wynnstay is pleased to announce its involvement as a consortium partner in a revolutionary research project into the use of daffodils to reduce cattle methane emissions. The Dancing with Daffodils project aims to transform the efficiency and sustainability of ruminant livestock farming and is supported by the Department of Farming, Environment and Rural Affairs and Innovate UK, the UK's national innovation agency.
