Wynnstay was proud to co-host the sixth NFU Cymru Sustainable Farming Conference at Pant Farm, Llanvetherine, as part of Welsh Farming Week, bringing together farmers, industry experts and policymakers from across Wales to discuss practical approaches to sustainable agriculture.
Now in its sixth year, the conference continues to provide an important platform for sharing knowledge, exploring innovation and discussing the future of sustainable farming in Wales. The event reflected the strength of the Welsh agricultural community, with attendees coming together to exchange ideas, experiences and insights on how farming can continue to thrive while protecting the environment for future generations.
A special thank you goes to the Yeomans family, who generously welcomed delegates to Pant Farm and shared their own sustainability journey. Their openness and willingness to showcase the farm’s approach provided valuable real-world examples of sustainable farming in practice.
One of the highlights of the day was the presentation of the NFU Cymru / Wynnstay Sustainable Agriculture Award. Congratulations to Peter Loxdale of Castle Hill Farm, who was named the 2026 winner in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the economic, environmental, social and cultural wellbeing of Wales. The award celebrates individuals who demonstrate excellence in sustainable agriculture and a commitment to supporting the wider rural community.
The conference concluded with a guided tour of Pant Farm’s 160 hectares, offering attendees a first-hand opportunity to see sustainable farming practices in action and gain further insight into the work taking place across the business.
Reflecting on the event, Bryn Hughes, National Sheep & Beef Specialist at Wynnstay, said:
“The Sustainable Farming Conference continues to be an important event for Welsh agriculture, bringing together people from across the industry to share ideas and learn from one another. It was fantastic to see such strong engagement throughout the day and to celebrate Peter Loxdale’s well-deserved achievement through the Sustainable Agriculture Award.”
