Glasson Fertiliser, as part of Wynnstay Group Plc has marked a major milestone with the arrival of its largest ever fertiliser vessel, bringing 25,500 tonnes of granular urea into the UK to support farmers across the country.

The Maccoa arrived at King George Dock, Hull, on Saturday 26 September following a two-week voyage from Onne, Nigeria. Carrying 25,500 tonnes of granular urea, the vessel represents a significant investment by Glasson Fertiliser and one of the largest fertiliser shipments handled by the business to date.

The arrival reflects Glasson Fertiliser’s proactive approach to sourcing and securing product for UK agriculture, ensuring farmers have access to essential crop nutrients ahead of key application periods. At a time when global supply chains continue to experience volatility, the shipment demonstrates the scale, expertise and confidence required to bring substantial volumes of fertiliser into the UK market.

Teams  worked around the clock to unload the vessel in a continuous six-day operation. The product arrived in bulk and will be processed and bagged at Glasson Fertiliser’s specialist facility in Hull before being distributed to customers nationwide.

The shipment also highlights the strength of Glasson Fertiliser’s port, processing and distribution infrastructure. Managing a vessel of this size requires extensive planning and coordination across international suppliers, port operations and manufacturing teams, underlining the business’s capability to deliver reliable supply to UK farmers.

With every tonne forward sold into British agriculture, the arrival of the Maccoa reinforces Glasson Fertiliser’s role in supporting productive, efficient and resilient farming businesses. By investing in large-scale procurement and supply chain capability, the company continues to provide growers with confidence that essential inputs will be available when they are needed most.

As one of the UK’s leading fertiliser suppliers, Glasson Fertiliser remains focused on helping farmers maximise crop performance while supporting the long-term sustainability and success of UK food production.
